After everyone had left, I helped Olivia bring in the gifts that she had bought for the family. I helped her arrange them under the tree.
My brothers were helping dad put the extra tables and chairs back into the garage so they could be used the next day. My mom was organizing the left overs in the fridge to make sure she had room for everything.
I after having to spend most of the night with my relatives, I was anxious to spend some time with Olivia alone.
I led the way downstairs and she sat on my bed as I rummaged through my dresser drawers for some old clothes for her.
I found an old t-shirt and a pair of boxer shorts. “Are these okay?” I asked holding up both articles of clothing.
“That’s fine.” She smiled.
“There’s a bathroom on the other side of the rec room. Near the pool table…”
She smiled. “Thanks.”
She stood up and left the bedroom. I carefully unfolded the blankets, somewhat glad that I had cleaned up a little and at least made my bed.
I rummaged through the downstairs linen closet and found an extra comforter. I draped it carefully over the end of the bed. I knew the basement got cold sometimes, and the last thing I wanted was for her to get cold.
I grabbed a pillow from the linen closet and a blanket, throwing them both haphazardly onto the sofa. It didn’t matter what they looked like. I didn’t intend to sleep on the sofa much. I knew that I would hear the kids running around and yelling in the morning, and I’d be able to sneak back to the sofa before my parents discovered that I had spent the night in bed with my girlfriend. Even if all we were doing was sleeping.
I changed quickly into a pair of flannel pajama pants and a tank top. I was a lot more tired than I had expected. It seemed like it had been a very long day.
“Hi.” Olivia said softly.
I turned to see her wearing my old shirt. She hadn’t bothered to wear the old boxer shorts, but the shirt was long enough to cover her butt. She actually looked insanely hot.
“I hope you don’t mind, but I hung my clothes up in the bathroom. Is that okay?” She asked, her nose wrinkling cutely.
“That’s fine. I pretty much have that bathroom to myself. No one ever uses it.” I shrugged lightly.
“Okay… and I borrowed one of your hair elastics…”
“That’s cool too.” I smirked.
She crossed the room and wrapped her arms around my neck, standing on her toes. “This whole Christmas has been wonderful.” She mused. “I had such a wonderful time. Your family is so sweet and caring.”
I sighed. “Well, I’m glad you enjoyed yourself tonight because tomorrow is going to be absolutely crazy. The kids are going to be full of sugar and so hyper and excited. There will be paper thrown everywhere, and gifts all over the place. And my mom is going to feed you until you explode.” I warned.
Olivia laughed sweetly. “It still sounds like a wonderful day.” She mused.
“Okay. Well, at least you’ll be prepared.” I shrugged.
Olivia slowly released me. “Are you going to stay in here with me?”
I nodded. “If you don’t mind. I mean, if you don’t want me to, I can sleep on the sofa. I have to sneak back there before anyone wakes up in the morning. I’m sure I’ll never hear the end of it if they catch us in bed together. Even if we’re just sleeping.”
“Right, of course.” She mused with a small smile.
“I like that shirt on you. Very sexy.” I mused. “I think you should keep it.”
Olivia laughed softly. “Right. It’s not exactly the most conservative sleepwear, it’s kind of short…” She mused, tugging at the bottom hem of the shirt, attempting to cover herself a little more.
I grinned hugely.
“Oh, but I assume that’s why you like it.” She laughed softly. She stood on her toes and kissed my cheek.
Her breath smelled fresh and minty, like she’d borrowed some of my toothpaste. I didn’t mind that either.
“Alright,” I offered. “Climb into bed and I’ll join you in a second.”
“Okay.” She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
I left her in my room and went into the washroom. I used the facilities and brushed my own teeth. I wanted to be prepared in case anything other than sleeping went on. Even if we were both exhausted.
I left the bathroom light on in case Olivia got up in the middle of the night. I shut the door most of the way, and shut off the light in the main portion of the basement.
I found Olivia sitting up in my bed. She was under the blankets, and smiling at me. “Hi.” She said softly.
“Hey.” I clicked off the light and carefully climbed into bed with her. I pulled the blankets over us both and wrapped my arms around her snuggly.
She shivered in my arms.
“Are you cold?” I asked, frowning at her in the darkness.
“A little.” She answered. Her feet touched mine, and they were freezing.
“Here, honey.” I mused, sitting up and reaching for the extra blanket, pulling it over us both.
I lay down again, and she nestled into my arms.
“You’ll warm up in a second.” I said gently.
“I know.” She kissed me gently. It was a soft, tender kiss. There were no hidden meanings, it was a sweet, good night kiss.
She was exhausted and so was I.
She sighed softly, seemingly falling asleep in mere seconds.
She turned over in my arms and I carefully wrapped my body around hers. I could feel her body temperature warming quickly. Her legs had been almost as cold as ice, but now she felt much warmer.
I inhaled the sweet lilac scent from her hair.
I rested my head back against the pillows, shut my eyes and followed her into sleep.

I woke the next morning to Olivia shifting in my arms. She turned over, making a soft mumbling noise.
She nestled further into my arms, resting her head on my chest.
I lifted my head carefully and peered down at her. It appeared as though she was still awake. She sighed softly.
I carefully ran my fingers up and down her arm slowly, and distractedly.
My right hand was absolutely killing me. I needed to take a Tylenol or something much stronger. But I would put up with the pain in order to remain with Olivia, just the way we were.
She drew in a deep breath and stirred. For a moment I thought I’d woken her. She turned and smiled up at me. “Good morning.” She whispered softly.
“Good morning.” I mused. “How did you sleep?”
She smiled. “Perfectly. The best sleep I’ve had in ages.”
“Me too. The best sleep I’ve had since I’ve been home.” I mused.
Olivia twisted around and lightly kissed the underside of my jaw, I turned and met her kiss.
Olivia laughed softly, returning my kisses.
I quickly lifted her up onto my lap, she straddled my lap and her fingers moved through my hair. Our kisses deepened and she sighed softly. Her thighs wrapped around my hips and I moved my hands slowly up her smooth thighs. My old shirt that she was wearing had pooled around her hips. She yanked my shirt up and over my head, and I reluctantly removed my hands from her hips. She tossed my shirt to the ground and kissed me again.
I moved my hands up her sides, exploring the skin beneath her shirt. She moaned softly against my mouth.
There were footsteps above us. I recognized my mother’s light steps across the floor.
Olivia broke the kisses and looked up at the ceiling.
I kissed along her shoulder and left long, lingering kisses against her throat.
“Isaac,” She whispered. “Someone is awake.”
“We should have a few minutes before they come down to check on us…” I murmured.
She laughed softly. “I don’t think so. I think we should wait until later.” She replied.
I sighed. “You’re right.”
Olivia chewed her lower lip and smiled faintly. “Later, I promise.” She smiled. “But if we get caught, I’m sure you’re parents will kill us both.”
I nodded. “Right.”
She carefully climbed off my lap and tucked her legs beneath the blankets.
“Right, I’d better get to the sofa.” I sighed reluctantly.
